One of the many advantages of buying an Antares catamaran is the opportunity to spend time cruising in Brazil. With the exception of a small handful of international sailors living aboard their boats and sailing the waters of South America, few North Americans have the chance to discover Brazil’s Costa Verde.
Angra dos Reis is located just south of Rio, and the surrounding bay is dotted with more than 360 islands. Ilha Grande is the biggest of these and is trimmed with pristine beaches skirting its edges and a multitude of emerald green tropical forests and paths leading to the mountainous interior. There are no vehicles on this 20-mile-long island, only a path that circumnavigates the perimeter.
We’ve compiled some photographs from Antares owners to give you a sense of this virtually unknown gem of a cruising ground.
